This year’s Anime Pasadena, which took place November 4th and 5th at the Pasadena Convention Center, was stacked with exciting panels. Over in the main panel room on Saturday, members of the English dub cast of the hit anime Jujutsu Kaisen gathered for a Q&A panel to answer fan questions and discuss a little of the show, which is currently in the middle of its second season.
Jujutsu Kaisen Panel
The Jujutsu Kaisen panel was hosted by content creator and cosplayer Girls Got Rhythm, although a majority of the forty five minute panel was saved for audience questions. Filling out the panel was Adam McArthur (Yuji Itadori), Kaiji Tang (Satoru Gojo), Anne Yacto (Nobara Kugisaki), Robbie Daymond (Megumi Fushiguro), Lex Lang (Suguru Geto), David Vincent (Nanami Kento), and Ray Chase (Ryomen Sukuna, Choso). The panel also included a fun surprise – Kirstie Simone, the voice director for the ongoing season of the anime. According to the panelists, this was Kirstie’s first ever time being on a panel, as well as her first ever convention. The cast also said that, as best as they could remember, this was the biggest Jujutsu Kaisen panel to date at a convention, with a total of seven actors and the voice director.
Anyone who has attended a panel with this cast before knows they tend to have a lot of fun, especially when Adam McArthur and Robbie Daymond end up at the same table. Kaiji Tang, who often has interesting takes on food on X, shared what he called the “cadillac of soda-milk drinks,” which is Pepsi mixed with chocolate milk (having tried it myself, it’s better than it sounds), while Adam decided that if he were to have his own cursed technique it would simply be “hot dog fingers.” It is a little unclear what he meant by that, but he was insistent that “hot dog fingers” was superior to Robbie’s suggestion of a reverse cursed technique that could cure anxiety, which is debatable. When the cast was asked who they would like to play their characters in a live action version of the show, the whole panel decided that Gojo and Geto should be played by Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, which of course led to a few really solid impressions of the actors doing lines from Jujutsu Kaisen.
The entire cast worked very hard to keep the panel spoiler free, despite a couple of close calls with audience questions. Nearly everyone on stage also reads the manga and is caught up with the most recent chapters, which is now far beyond the Shibuya Arc. The currently airing arc is also not yet complete, with several more episodes still scheduled to be released through the end of the year, so everyone had to navigate their answers to be sure they only referenced up to the most recent episodes of the anime (they were almost entirely successful).
Jujutsu Kaisen’s first and second seasons are streaming on Crunchyroll now. New episodes are released on Thursdays, with the English dub episodes released two weeks after the airing of the original Japanese version. Be sure to catch up before the end of the season to hear the work of this amazing cast.
