About Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Zom 100 premiered earlier this year to much anticipation. The story follows Akira Tendo, an overworked 24 year old office worker who ends up at the center of a zombie apocalypse. Instead of falling into dread and terror, Akira sees this as a chance to live his life to the fullest instead of continuing to be stuck in his monotonous and unfulfilling career. In order to achieve his goal, he puts together a bucket list of things he would like to accomplish before dying. Accompanied by his friend Kencho, Akira makes his way through the zombie infested landscape to check experiences off of his list.
There was a lot of excitement around this series when it first premiered, and initial reactions were largely positive. The animation style and use of color is visually stunning, especially considering the setting and plot of the story. Despite being set during a zombie apocalypse, the overall tone of the show is upbeat and comedic, offering a fun take on the zombie genre while still including moments of intensity and emotion.
Hiatus News
Unfortunately, the release of the anime has been plagued with delays. The first episode premiered on July 9, 2023, with the first four episodes releasing weekly. Since then, multiple episodes have been delayed by a week, with updates to the release schedule being posted on the official Zom 100 website – some delays were due to conflicting broadcasts in Japan , while others seemed to be production related. After the release of episode nine on September 24th, however, it was announced that the anime would be on “indefinite hiatus” due to production issues, despite there being three more episodes planned for the season. No news of its return had been announced since, until today.
Episodes 10, 11, and 12 are all scheduled to be released on December 25th, meaning that fans can finish up the season with no more wait. For anyone not caught up on the show yet, the first nine episodes of the season are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu, which is where the remainder of the season will be found once it is released. With an end date in sight, it is a perfect time to jump into the colorful world of Zom 100.
