A new journey is on the horizon! Nintendo and The Pokémon Company had their annual Pokémon Presents in celebration of Pokémon Day! The showcase was filled with many updates on existing projects, along with the announcement of a new adventure!
Smaller Announcements
The presentation had many smaller announcements and updates throughout the presentation. In terms of mobile gaming, Sygna Suit Florian with Ogrepon and Sygna Suit Juliana with Terapogos were announced as upcoming pairs in Pokémon Masters EX. Also coming to Pokémon Masters EX is Red and Pikachu, with their appearance being heavily inspired by the artwork for Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue.
Pokémon Champions was revealed to be coming out on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in April of this year, with a mobile port later in the year. The game will be free-to-play and will have a battle pass system. Players will also be able to use many past gimmicks from previous generations, such as Mega Evolution and Z-Moves.
Pokémon Home is expected to be updated soon to feature connectivity to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the recent Switch re-releases for Pokémon Fire Red and Pokémon Leaf Green.
A special event is currently happening in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, where players can obtain a Mystery Gift that unlocks a special Hyperspace Distortion. It gives players the chance to obtain a Mega Stone for the newly revealed Mega Garchomp Z.
Pokémon Worlds News
Pokémon Worlds was also announced to be occurring this year. The event is currently scheduled for August and will take place in San Francisco, California. Just like previous years, the event will feature tournaments in both card games and video games. Fans can also expect to see some surprise announcements during the events, but as to what those will be, we’ll have to wait and see.
A New Generation
The presentation ended with one final announcement. Coming in 2027, the new generation of Pokémon games will be coming to Switch 2! Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Waves will feature a brand new journey across a tropical region. While not a lot has been revealed, we got a couple of looks at some of the environments. There will be a lush jungle and an extremely expansive underwater area.
The game will also feature two special Pikachu in tropical outfits named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Waveychu. The last major reveal for the games was the region’s starter Pokémon! There is Browt, the Grass-Type starter, Pombon, the Fire-Type starter and Gecqua, the Water-Type starter.
