Top 5 Characters Who Should Be Added to Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

The finish line is on the horizon! Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is almost here and Sega has promised tons of post-launch content! Numerous fan-favorite characters will join the racetrack, such as Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles, but some are missing. Before the game releases, here is a list of the top 5 characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise that should be added!

5. Mephiles the Dark

One of the more popular villains from the game series, Mephiles would be a fun pick for the Crossworlds roster! While debuting in 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog, he didn’t reappear in the main series until Shadow Generations in 2024. While having minor playable appearances in the mobile games, Crossworlds would be the perfect opportunity to have him join the havoc on the race track. It would be the ultimate way for Shadow and Mephiles to finally settle their score.

4. Marine the Raccoon

The happy-go-lucky captain from Blaze’s dimension! Marine first appeared in Sonic Rush Adventure, serving as a sidekick for Sonic and Blaze throughout their journey. While she has yet to make another appearance in the main games, she has recently begun appearing in the mobile games, such as Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. Despite having one major appearance, it was enough to leave her mark. Seeing her travel to Sonic’s dimension with Blaze to join the fight for the lead would be awesome to see!

3. Gemerl

An Eggman robot-turned-fierce heroic ally! Gemerl’s first and only game appearance was Sonic Advance 3. He has, however, become a major supporting character in IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comics. Serving as Cream the Rabbit’s protector, what better way to keep an eye on her than joining the race! He could also take the chance to shut Eggman up for good, finally!

2. Tikal

A kind-hearted and strong-willed girl! She first debuted in Sonic Adventure as the daughter of the Echidna Tribe chief. Hailing from a time long before the events of the game, her spirit serves as a guide for all the characters. Once Chaos is defeated, she manages to calm down the angry god as they go back to the Master Emerald. She has made minor appearances since then, including a playable appearance in Sonic Adventure 2’s multiplayer mode. Seeing her rejoin the cast of characters in Crossworlds would be a delight for older fans of the series!

1. Chaos

Chaos was once an angry god and a deadly foe of Sonic and his friends. Debuting in Sonic Adventure as the main antagonist, he wasn’t necessarily evil. He was angry at losing both Tikal and the Chao at the Master Emerald shrine and wanted revenge. Thanks to Sonic’s intervention and Tikal’s reappearance, Chaos was calmed and returned with Tikal to Angel Island. He has made occasional appearances since then, including being playable in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Battle. An illusion also appeared as part of Eggman’s army in Sonic Forces. Chaos coming back for Crossoworlds would be a perfect way to reintroduce him to newer Sonic fans, while also showing off his abilities on the track!

For now, fans of the Sonic series can gear up for the races as they wait for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, which drives into stores on September 25th, across all platforms! Until then,  fans should keep their eyes peeled for any new information on the game.
