Racers, at the ready! Sega and Sonic Team have dropped their latest batch of news for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds! From a DLC announcement to insane reveals, there’s enough to get fans excited!
Exciting Reveals
The first day of Gamescom featured a trailer that revealed that a collaboration with PAC-MAN is in the works! Pac-Man and the Ghosts were revealed as future paid DLC, along with their own vehicle and track!
The track features Pac-Village and the maze from the PAC-MAN franchise. Sonic will also be featured as a guest character in DLC for Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac as part of this partnership!
A second trailer dropped the next day, highlighting the variety of game modes that the game will contain. The modes featured in the game include:
- Grand Prix, where racers battle for the top spot in 4 races
- Split-screen Multiplayer for players to race against friends and family locally
- Cross-Platform Online Matchmaking to allow players to play with others globally, regardless of platform
- Race Park, a mode designed to challenge racers with a variety of missions
- Time Attack,where you can race against yourself to get a fast time on each track
Alongside the modes, new racetracks were revealed! Kronos Island from Sonic Frontiers, White Space from Shadow Generations, and Northstar Islands from Sonic Superstars were all revealed as new courses!
Open Network Test
Sega announced they will be hosting a network test open to all players on Switch, Xbox Series X, Playstation 5, and Steam. Starting on August 28th, players can play online with gamers all over the world. They will have 12 characters, 16 courses (9 main tracks and 7 Crossworlds), and 42 gadgets to choose from!
Players will get to try all of the game modes available. During the network test, there will be an event held for 24 hours. The event is centered around Joker from Persona 5, allowing players to try out Joker for the first time!
Game Features
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is gonna have a lot of features for players! Aside from the aforementioned game mods, the game’s roster contains 24 characters at launch!
23 will be available at the start and 1 is unlockable! Post-launch characters will be added periodically. 10 free DLC characters, each being a Sega-owned character, will be added — including Joker and Hatsune Miku.
There will also be a season pass for the paid DLC, which includes Minecraft, Spongebob Squarepants, and PAC-MAN! The game will have 24 main courses and 15 Crossworlds.
Excited gamers can enjoy the game on all platforms when it releases on September 25th!
