If you were at Anime Expo, then you probably saw the lines of fans at the Love and Deepspace booth outside. Even more likely, you were one of the many attendees in it! From a food truck last year to a bustling booth at Anime Expo this year, it was nice to see another LADS activation at Anime Expo!
Love and Deepspace
Love and Deepspace (LADS) is a game developed by Infold. You play as the female main character (MC), trying to navigate a mysterious illness while also being a rising hunter. With cinematic cutscenes that immerse you in the story, this 3D dating sim strikes a great balance between action, romance, adventure, and comedy.
The game currently features five potential love interests: Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus, and Caleb, each with their storylines and personalities. Fans can delve further into each love interest’s myths by leveling up their affinity and unlocking memory cards.
LADS Anime Expo Activations
The Love and Deepspace booth featured a special photo op area where you could take pictures with standees of all five love interests. Pictured above is the standee for Xavier. On the other side, they offered a special gift bag for Hunters level 50 and above.
This booth was busy the whole convention! So busy that they were capping the lines for hours at a time to keep up with the high demand! They would have to close the doors to hand-pack more gift bags, and on the photo side, they would need to mop the set to keep it pristine.
The gift bag itself came with a set of photo cards for all the love interests, a fan that matches the character on the bag you pulled, and a ribbon sash so you can proudly showcase your love for your favorite guy around all of Anime Expo. It was nice to walk around and see all the Love and Deepspace fans throughout the convention.
The cool part is just like the game; the bags were also randomly given out. You didn’t know who you’re going to get, so it ended up turning into a fun trading experience where you could meet other players and trade for the bag you wanted! As someone who usually attends conventions alone, this was a great way to make friends and meet other people who share the same interests!
LADS Panel
In addition to the Love and Deepspace activation, there was also an unofficial fan-run panel on day one of Anime Expo. This panel had a line that rivaled the Petree Hall lines to get into and proved to be highly competitive to gain entry. Staff had warned attendees that not everyone in line would be able to get in, and we later even found out that a separate line of about 100 more people was forming inside the building to get in.
The panel itself was limited to attendees 18+ only, due to the overall nature of the game and themes of the panel, and featured cosplayers portraying the love interests, as well as two lovely MCs hosting. It was a fun panel where attendees got to play a truth or dare game, participate in a Q&A, and a guessing game where we had to match super-zoomed-in photos to the characters. It was chaotic in the best possible way!
