Zenless Zone Zero just marked its 1 year anniversary—and it’s showing no signs of slowing down! From the creators of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, this urban fantasy action RPG is heading to the beach in Version 2.1, “The Impending Crash of Waves.”
The official YouTube channel has released a special program detailing the new locations, characters, and gameplay ahead of the release on July 16th
Here are the highlights and new features coming in Version 2.1!
Fun in the Sun with a Spooky Twist
Two new areas will be made available in version 2.1!
Just beneath the cliffs of Failume Heights lies Sailume Bay, a rough shanty town where ore mined from the Hollows would be cleaned and processed. This area will play a key part in the new Main Story Chapter “The Impending Crash of Waves” as tensions between the locals and the bigwigs of TOPS emerge.
In stark contrast is Fantasy Resort, a coastal getaway that’s fallen on hard times, surrounded by supernatural rumors. It will be up to the Proxies and their newfound allies to revitalize the resort in the new Version Event “Tales of Midsummer Dreams.”
A Tale of Two Heiresses
Ukinami Yuzuha is the newest S-Rank Physical Support agent. She’s a natural salesperson and loves telling tall tales to help promote her father’s shop. In battle, she and her tanuki companion Kama apply a new status effect called “Sweet Scare” to enemies. Allies attacking an enemy with “Sweet Scare” will deal extra damage. Yuzuha will also accumulate “Sugar Points” during combat to launch attacks when not on the field. Players can recruit her during the Signal Search Event Phase I, along with her signature W-Engine and a rerun of Hoshimi Miyabi.
Alice is the newest S-Rank Physical Anomaly agent. As the heiress to a prestigious family, she carries herself with dignity and grace with an odd obsession for symmetry. In combat, she deals additional damage to any enemy suffering a Physical Attribute Anomaly. She also fills a resource gauge called “Blade Etiquette,” which she can use to launch a flurry of strikes. Players can recruit her during the Signal Search Event Phase II, with her signature W-Engine and a rerun of Tsukushiro Yanagi.
New Version Events and Gameplay
Players will restore the Fantasy Resort to its former glory during Version 2.1. The event will feature exciting new attractions and hands-on activities for guests, including a surfing course, skeet shooting, and the unique opportunity to catch fish for the aquarium. By completing the main event quest, players will also get new summer outfits for Belle and Wise! Time to soak up the sun!
The faithful Bangboo of Suibian Temple, Belion, has gone missing! Spouting delusions of grandeur, it embarks on a unique journey. Players will engage in auto-battle encounters with Bangboo squads. Carefully place Bangboo on the board to capitalize on buffs, bond powers, and high-rank fusions. Squad composition is key to dominating the leaderboards.
The members of Spook Shack never shy away from urban legends, and a ghost ship sounds like a perfect summer distraction. Tackle engaging combat missions in a new setting with new combat mechanics. Achieve the top score to claim rewards like Polychromes and upgrade materials.
A curious Bangboo has been going around claiming there’s an alien in the Lemnian Hollow. Proxies will explore a new area in the Hollow and find clues about this so-called alien. They’ll have to use the techniques they learned at Suibian Temple to get to the bottom of this mystery. Complete the event missions to claim rewards like Boopons and upgrade materials.

- Improvements to the quick travel interface, including a favorites tag.
