Date Everything! Pop Up Event Review

Requiem Cafe held a Date Everything! pop-up event in Anaheim, and it was amazing! Requiem Cafe is well-known for hosting events that celebrate fandoms and franchises, serving as a gathering place where fans can come together to share their passion for games, shows, movies, books, and everything in between. This star-studded event featured several voice actor appearances throughout the duration, allowing fans to meet the voices behind their favorite dateables, enjoy themed drinks, and share their love for the game with other fans.

When a drone crashes through the window of your front door, it drops off a mysterious pair of glasses that allow you to see your house from a whole new perspective. Inanimate objects you don’t think twice about suddenly turn to life and have personalities you would never expect. Date Everything! is full of laughs and honestly is just a lot of fun to play!

Date Everything is a sandbox dating simulator created by Sassy Chap Games and published by Team17. Sassy Chap Games is a studio founded by professional voice actors Robbie Daymond, Max Mittelman, and Ray Chase.

Date Everything! Pop-Up Review

The event appeared well-executed, based on observations during my visit. What stood out to me was the care the staff members of the cafe showed! They were very helpful, and ensured everyone’s safety the entire time. They provided water for attendees waiting in line. At one point, they repositioned the line so that we could all comfortably stand under the shady umbrellas, rather than in the blazing heat. It was a very thoughtful gesture and a great experience, even before entering the cafe!

It’s unassuming on the outside; but once you walk inside, it’s as if you’re transported into a fantasy. While the overall theme of the cafe itself didn’t change for the event, seeing all the themed drinks, cosplayers, and voice actors brought the Date Everything! spirit to the event and helped set the scene!

Here’s a photo of the themed drink menu:

I went for the Dateivator Delight and Rebel Sunrise! Unfortunately, on the encore day, they didn’t have any of the toppers left aside from the hangers. I was hesitant to try the Rebel Sunrise because I don’t usually like spicy things, but it wasn’t very spicy at all! If you were looking for a lot of spice, this drink probably wouldn’t have been for you!

The Dateivator Delight was the star for me between the two drinks, though! It was similar to an Orange Creamsicle, but the addition of dragonfruit and grapefruit made it even better. If this drink isn’t on their menu full time, it definitely should be moving forward!

I didn’t personally get to meet any voice actors this time around, but the roster of talent that came through for this event was incredible. While I was there, Christian Navarro, Fred Tatasciore, Charlie Wes, and Isaac Robinson-Smith were signing. Signings were set up in the shop area, away from the bustling cafe; providing the actors with their own space to meet with fans.

Requiem Cafe

Requiem Cafe has been around for several years now, and each year, they seem to improve more and more. It’s great to see this kind of event in a café, rather than at a grand convention where you have to jump through hoops and hurdles to get in. It just felt homey and accessible to fans! I also like that they had a dress-up night and a cosplay-centered day, allowing attendees to get creative!
