Teamwork is one of the biggest obstacles when navigating through life. Trying to understand the people you’re paired up with is difficult; whether it be a clash of ideas or overlapping weaknesses. However, once solidified, working with one another can create a strong force to face the toughest challenges head-on. And, for our staff at Sakamoto’s, combining strengths can prove to be the key to any challenge. Here is the review of Sakamoto Days episode 9.
SAKAMOTO DAYS Episode 9 Recap
Sakamoto Days episode 9 continues with the fight between Sakamoto and Kashima. Kashima mentions that Sakamoto’s staff would already be taken out by his forces. Sakamoto states that his staff aren’t softies and can handle whatever he throws at them. Meanwhile, Shin and Heisuke are dealing with their fight with Seba. The duo seems to have the upper hand against a wounded Seba with Heisuke’s ricocheting bullets. However, Seba throws a curveball, using his invisibility suit to hide a fallen pipe, and throws it at Heisuke. This wounds the sniper in the shoulder. He then stabbed him in the stomach.
Seba calls Heisuke a third-rate sniper and that he shouldn’t waste his time with friends. Heisuke disagrees, saying that his friends call him a top-notch sniper. He shoots a shot right at a sprinkler over Seba’s head. The water makes Seba visible, giving Shin the chance to take the man out with a perfectly timed attack. The duo can’t celebrate early though, as explosions rack through the Lab.
Back downstairs, Kashima explains to Sakamoto that the entire Lab is rigged with explosives to destroy any evidence. We then get a flashback of a young Kashima who had killed a few people over their mistreatment of a cat. Everyone looks at him in fear except his master, showing that he understands and accepts Kashima’s craving for justice at the cost of a few lives. Sakamoto puts Kashima’s focus back on the fight, keeping the man staggered with a flurry of punches. Kashima uses one of his weapons to send Sakamoto flying out of the subway car. That doesn’t deter him one bit. Sakamoto races to defeat Kashima, taking the man by surprise with a clean punch.
Working Together Pays Off for Everyone
Back in the Lab, Lu and Asakura race to get out before the building collapses, meeting up with Shin and Heisuke along the way. Asakura finally gets to meet with a grown Shin. Shin explains that the Lab is going to collapse in 10 minutes. The group splits up to save the Lab scientists who are still trapped in the building.
Furthermore, Asakura praises Shin for his abilities and how much he’s grown. Shin and Asakura race through the hall and split up to rescue people. Shin stops as he reads the person’s thoughts of himself getting diced up and beaten. He goes cold as the leader of Slur unknowingly walks past him and tells Shin to give his regards to Sakamoto. Everyone gets safely rescued. The team heads back to Sakamoto’s, where Aoi has made a huge meal for them to enjoy. Shin takes a piece of Lu’s tempura shrimp and Lu, in turn, takes Shin’s food, and the duo bicker once again.
Overall Thoughts on Episode 9
Sakamoto Days episode 9 was a hefty build-up towards Slur. I cannot wait to see how The Order and Sakamoto’s team handle the threat as the episodes continue. I also loved seeing Lu and Shin finally apologize to one another. They then immediately go back to bickering by the end of the episode. Their sibling dynamic is top-notch and makes for some comedic moments despite the looming threat that seems to await our main cast.
We still don’t know what Slur’s intentions are or how deep this rabbit hole goes. It makes me wonder if Sakamoto and his staff are prepared to fight this type of threat. I also enjoyed the different villains our cast had to fight in this episode. Seba, Kashima, and even Mad Horiguchi from the previous episode had the Sakamoto staff fighting to deal with their tech. Nevertheless, I’m very excited to see more characters and their skills and our cast adapt and enhance their skill sets.
