Welcome to Kinokuniya’s “Monthly Staff Pick Sale!” Each month, the popular bookstore chain selects a few book titles that members can purchase at a 20% discount. The sale lasts the entire month, while supplies last, and is available in-store and online. For January 2025, Kinokuniya highlights the new year and new beginnings with Noragami: Stray God and GOGOGOGO-GO-GHOST!
Noragami: Stray God (Art & Story by Adachitoka)
In the vast pantheon of Japanese gods and spirits, some inevitably fall through the cracks into obscurity. Yato is one such deity. Without any followers or even a shrine, he is essentially homeless. Nonetheless, he’s determined to establish himself as a revered god and have a fancy shrine all to himself. To that end, he sets up a help service to fulfill any request for 5 yen. That service extends to Hiyori Iki, a young girl who hires him to fix her out-of-body experience. Together, the two will navigate the worlds of humans and spirits, all while discovering more about themselves and their pasts.
GOGOGOGO-GO-GHOST! (Art & Story by Miyako Hiruzuka)
Former office worker Ushiro Akechi has hit rock bottom. After an illicit affair falls through, her life becomes an endless tedium of short-lived gigs and dinners alone in her ratty apartment. At this point, is life even worth living? Just as Ushiro is about to end it all, a self-proclaimed guardian spirit named Masako pulls her from the edge. In reality, Masako is little more than a wandering ghost with a strong grudge. Ironically, that shared disdain for life gives Ushiro the boost she needs to confront the source of her misery. Follow this strange supernatural partnership through comedy, drama, and sweet, sweet revenge.
