On September 24th, Sega announced some exciting news regarding the upcoming game, Sonic x Shadow Generations and its special animation, Dark Beginnings.
Story Trailer
A story trailer for the upcoming game was officially revealed during the most recent Sonic Central presentation. There were many new looks at previously announced stages, as well as the unveiling of a new boss. The trailer teases the reunion of Shadow and Maria, Shadow’s friend who tragically passed in a military raid 50 years prior. Shadow’s creator, Professor Gerald Robotnik, is also expected to return. Shadow will come face to face with Mephiles the Dark, the villain he last faced in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Additionally, we also got a glimpse of Shadow’s confrontation against Black Doom.
Playstation State of Play
Playstation also shared news regarding Sonic x Shadow Generations. They dropped a small gameplay trailer that showcased a boss fight against Sonic, the Hedgehog. The fight previously occurred in Sonic Generations, but this time, players will play the battle from Shadow’s point-of-view. During Playstation’s State of Play presentation, the first bit of DLC was released. A stage based on Tokyo, set in the universe of the Paramount movie franchise, and a skin, based on Shadow’s appearance in the upcoming film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, were revealed. In this DLC pack, Keanu Reeves will be providing the voice for the Shadow skin, as he is Shadow’s voice in the film.
Dark Beginnings
The last bit of news revealed was for Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginning. A trailer for the upcoming miniseries was dropped and revealed that the story revolves around Shadow, alongside the other members of Team Dark. It also includes the Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega going to the Space Colony: ARK. One that is centered around their efforts to find answers regarding Shadow’s memories. Based on the trailer, it appears that Shadow’s memories are seemingly being tampered with, spurring Team Dark to seek these answers. Alongside the trailer, the titles for all three episodes were revealed with their release dates. Episode 1, titled “Shadow and Maria”, was released on September 25th. Episode 2, “Finding the Way”, will be released on October 3rd. Lastly, Episode 3, “To the ARK”, will be released on October 10th.
