On June 7th during Summer Games Fest, Sega dropped the new trailer for their upcoming remaster of Sonic Generations, Sonic X Shadow Generations. It offers a new look at the story expansion involving Shadow the Hedgehog, including new abilities and new levels in his campaign.
Sonic X Shadow Generations
Sonic X Shadow Generations follows Shadow as he is confronted by his old nemesis, Black Doom, as he is somehow brought back and attempts to take over the world again. It’s up to Shadow to travel through his past and stop Black Doom.
The trailer also revealed two new levels from previous entries in the franchise, those being Rail Canyon from Sonic Heroes and Kingdom Valley from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It also revealed that Shadow will have his own arsenal of abilities including his iconic Chaos Control and Chaos Spear. He will have access to new abilities referred to as “Doom Powers.” There was a glimpse at one of these powers, which involves Shadow growing a pair of wings.
Shadow’s side of the story will contain a massive open-world hub that players can run around and explore. There were also some updates revealed for the base game, such as the return of the Chao in new side missions and the use of new skins players can pick for both Modern and Classic Sonic. There is also expected to be graphical updates to the base game as well.
People attending Summer Games Fest were able to play a demo of the game. It offered a glimpse into the previously revealed Space Colony Ark level and an updated version of the Biolizard boss fight from Sonic Adventure 2.
Sonic X Shadow Generation is coming out on October 25th, 2024 on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
