Sneak Peek of "Sonic X Shadows Generations: Dark Beginnings"
The sneak peek, totaling at nearly 2 minutes, had many surprises in store. Three major characters from Shadow’s past make appearances. Maria Robotnik, Shadow’s friend on the Ark, and Gerald Robotnik, Shadow’s creator, appear as main characters. They made their last appearance in the 2005 game, Shadow the Hedgehog. Emerl makes an appearance as a foe of Shadow during a rampage on the Space Colony Ark. Emerl made his last appearance in the 2003 game, Sonic Battle.
Anime Expo Panel Experience
Attendees of the Sonic X Shadows Generations panel received a limited edition poster for the short, which revealed that Shadow’s friends and fellow members of Team Dark, Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega, will be playing roles in the animation as well. Both characters have been prominent players when it comes to shaping who Shadow is as a character, so it makes sense having them included in the short in some capacity.
After the sneak peek was shown off, Kevin Molina-Ortiz and Christopher Luc, the directors of the animation, revealed that three episodes will make up the entirety of the prologue. Kirk Thornton returns to voice Shadow, while it was announced that Stephanie Sheh, who voiced Zeena in Sonic Lost World, would be the new voice for Maria. It is currently unknown who will be voicing Gerald, Emerl, Rouge, and E-123 Omega. All three episodes are expected to release in the fall before the game’s official release on October 25th, though no specific dates were given. When they do release, you can watch all episodes on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Youtube channel.
