One of the cutest web manga, Tanuki to Kitsune (which translates to “Raccoon-dog and Fox”), is getting a TV anime adaptation, set to premiere on October 4 in Japan. The series’ latest trailer reveals the official main cast.Â
The Japanese cast for Tanuki to Kitsune includes the following:
- Misaki Kuno (Hawk in Seven Deadly Sins and Klee in Genshin Impact) voices Tanuki
- Nao Toyama (Ruka Sarashina in Rent-A-Girlfriend and Mualani in Genshin Impact) voices Kitsune
- Toshiyuki Morikawa (Miniato in Naruto and Sephiroth in Final Fantasy) voices OokamiÂ
- Maria Naganawa (Huohuo in Honkai: Star Rail) voices Usagi and the Narration
- Takuma Nagatsuka (Miya in SK8 the Infinity and Koda in My Hero Academia) voices Kuma and Usagi
Alongside the announced voice actors, a first look at the series was revealed on YouTube. Check out the trailer below:

Tanuki to Kitsune follows Tanuki, an airhead raccoon-dog, and Kitsune, a mischievous fox who teases Tanuki often, as they live together on a mountain.Â
Tommy Hino joins the staff to direct the series. Hino’s best known for directing I’m Home! Chibi Godzilla and Nmeneko. Akatsuki Media Studio will produce the anime, with Rika Kihara joining as scriptwriter.Â
The slice-of-life manga were both illustrated and written by Atamoto. Atamoto originally created and serialized the manga on X (previously Twitter) in 2016. Shortly after, Frontier Works picked up the series in November 2016 and published it in Reluct Comics. So far, 10 independent books have been published in the series. Additionally, Tanuki to Kitsune has a YouTube anime series that was streamed in 2018, which is still available now on YouTube!
If you’re looking for a cute slice-of-life anime, full of lighthearted moments for the fall season, Tanuki to Kitsune is the perfect anime for you, come October 4. Right now, there is no information on the US release date or the English-dub cast.Â
