Happy Haikyu!! day everyone! The beloved volleyball anime celebrated Haikyu!! day today, with numerous new announcements. If you didn’t catch all the updates, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered!
Haikyu!! TV Special Episode and Movie
As fans know, Haikyu!! has two major projects in the works: the movie, Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant and the TV special episode Where Monsters Go. Below, check out the visuals for both projects!
As for Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant focuses on the quarterfinal match between Karasuno and Kanomedai, homes to the “tiny giants” in their face-off, set to release in 2027 as well. The Little Giant game follows directly after where the last film, The Battle of the Garbage Dump, left off.
The match highlights two young volleyball players, Karasuno’s Hinata Shoyo and Kanomedai’s Korai Hoshiumi, who, against all odds, become incredible players, even if they are on the shorter side.
Where Monsters Go focuses on the match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School, also known as when Kotaro Bokuto faces Wakatsu Kiryu, in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Spring National Tournament. The match will be full of incredible spikes from the fourth-ranked and third-ranked student-aces in Japan. For a sneak peek at the game for glory, check out the trailer below before its 2027 release!
Finally, a final Haikyu!! movie (or two) is slated to come out following both Where Monsters Go and The Little Giant, finishing the 2013 Tokyo Spring Nationals arc and the timeskip. Fans cannot wait for the confirmed timeskip series, which hopefully features the MSBY Black Jackals versus Schweiden Adlers game. The film(s) will likely be set for 2028-2030, depending on how many projects they decide!
A Remix Manga
One of the first major updates released about the volleyball anime is a new remix manga entitled HAIKYU!! Character Remix: Bonds – Hinata & Kageyama. The manga covers the friendship between the main characters, Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio, in a two-volume collection. HAIKYU!! Character Remix will focus on key scenes from earlier chapters where we saw the teammates build a friendship. From practices to matches, we’ll relive our favorite Hinata and Kageyama moments. The manga will release in Japan on September 4 later this year!
Overall, with all the announcements released today, Haikyu!! Day 2026 was a clear success and has left fans rather impatient for 2027. Until the film, TV special episode and manga’s release date, keep up with the beloved volleyball anime on Crunchyroll. And let us know which project you are most excited about!
