Worlds is the annual event of the Pokémon Championship Series. The World Champion is determined from tournaments for video games (VGC), trading card games (TGC), Pokémon GO and Pokémon UNITED. Players compete for prizes worth over $2 million.
Alongside Worlds is the new PokémonXP, The Pokémon Company International’s first fan convention. Trainers will enjoy panels, a pin rally and trading, meet-and-greets with Pokémon and Pokémon creators, autographs, shopping, workshops, performances and much more. Check out the full schedule here.
Please note: Attendees were chosen from Pokémon’s now-closed interest list, and it is not possible to attend Worlds and PokémonXP without receiving an email to register.
Shopping
Trainers can also shop at the famous Pokémon Center to commemorate their time in San Francisco. The Pokémon Center will have several event-exclusive plushies available, including Champion Pikachu, Space Pikachu, Charizard and Kirlia. This attraction is only available to those with a valid Worlds and PokémonXP registration, and is not open to the public.
Not enough merchandise? The Pokémon Center Outpost located on Rayquaza Road will have Pokémon-themed goodies for purchase.
Other Ways to Celebrate
Not going to Worlds or PokémonXP but still want to join in on the fun in the city?
San Francisco is home to the San Francisco Giants, and they’ll host Pokémon Night on August 27 at Oracle Park. Fans can travel around the stadium playing Pokémon GO and enjoy the Giants-themed PokéStops and Gyms. Plus, enjoy a Pokémon drone show at the end of the night.
San Francisco is also home to the Nintendo Store, full of Pokémon goodies and other Nintendo franchises.
