Jujutsu Kaisen Panel at ALV

Anime Las Vegas was in full swing this past weekend, with so many great panels to choose from! One such panel was the Jujutsu Kaisen cast panel, moderated by Girls Got Rhythm. Cast members in attendance for the panel included:

  • Adam MacArthur (Yuji Itadori)
  • Anne Yatco (Nobara Kugisaki)
  • Kaiji Tang (Satoru Gojo)
  • Lex Lang (Suguru Geto/Kenjaku)
  • Allegra Clark (Maki Ze’nin/Kasumi Miwa)
  • Chris Tergliafera (Kiyotaka Ichiji)

As a prelude to the panel, the audience was hyped up with the songs, “Ao No Sumika,” and “Lost in Paradise.” These two iconic songs from the series played as the cast made their way to the panel and introduced themselves.

One of the first questions asked was to share a challenging line or scene for them to perform. The cast shared that season 2 was a challenge they all had. Adam MacArthur started by saying, “I was stretched as an actor more than I’ve ever been stretched before.”

Other answers included Kaiji Tang calling Nanami’s death as a challenge to watch and Allegra Clark saying Miwa’s breakdown on the train was challenging.

Another question for the entire cast was to share any other character they would voice, if they could. The answers were interesting: Allegra Clark said she would voice Geto. Anne Yatco said Panda. Kaiji Tang said Nanami or Mahito. Adam MacArthur joked about voicing Mahito, before saying his real answer was Aoi Todo.

Thoughts

A fan asked Adam what it was like for him to get into Yuji’s mindset after Sukuna’s rampage in Shibuya. Adam said, “It sucked. He’s feeling immense guilt and thinks it is all his fault.”He added that he had also seen photos of Yuji’s japanese voice actor on the floor crying during his session, and used that photo as a reference for the emotion he wanted to invoke.

Being at the panel was an exciting experience, as both a con attendee and as a fan of the series. The cast all joked throughout the panel with one another and showed how close they all are with one another. Being able to just see the cast in person was amazing, as well.

It’s fun learning that the cast was also to take liberties with their lines, with the example they used being Nobara’s iconic line towards Mahito in their battle, with Anne giving Kaiji the credit for it. Overall, the panel was an unforgettable experience for all the fans in attendance and was extremely successful.

You can currently stream Jujutsu Kaisen on Crunchyroll.
