Zenless Zone Zero is the hottest new game from the creators of Genshin Impact, miHoyo. In this urban fantasy action RPG, players take on the role of Proxies. It’s their job to safely navigate the mysterious extra-dimensional spaces called Hollows and defeat the monsters that dwell within, the Ethereals. Recruit teammates from an ever-growing roster of colorful characters and discover the secrets of the Hollows.
Version 1.6, “Among the Forgotten Ruins,” went live on March 12, 2025.
Make New Friends and Keep the Old, One is Silver, One is Gold
Version 1.6 features three new characters to recruit: Anby, Trigger, and Pulchra.
Before Anby joined the Cunning Hares, she was part of the New Eridu Defense Force, a powerful militant group that eliminates outside threats to the city. Circumstances force Anby to don her old uniform and become the S-rank Electric Attack agent, Soldier-0 Anby. Armed with dual swords, she dashes through enemies, triggering special marks that inflict extra damage. Players can learn more in Soldier-0 Anby’s agent story, “Echoes of Silver.”
Trigger is the newest S-rank Electric Stun agent, another member of the New Eridu Defense Force. During combat, she can enter a special sniper stance and fire continuous shots, while also dodging attacks. She has a unique resource called Purge that she consumes to launch supporting fire when not on the battlefield. Players can learn more about her connection with the Proxies in Trigger’s agent story, “Out of Sight.”
Lastly, the Sons of Calydon get a new member, Pulchra. Players will remember her from Version 1.2 and the “Tour de Inferno” story. She used to be loyal to Pompeii, the previous overlord of the Outer Ring, but now she works with Caesar. As an A-rank Physical Stun agent, Pulchra can enter a combat state that increases her Daze buildup. While she’s in this state and off-field, she will launch follow-up attacks when her allies deal damage.
In the first half of Version 1.6, Soldier-0 Anby and Pulchra will have boosted rates in special signal searches along with their signature W-Engines. A rerun of limited agent Burnice and her signature W-Engine will also be available in the first half. The second part of the update will feature Trigger and her signature equipment along with a rerun of Zhu Yuan.
A Proxy, A Wolf, and A Mockingbird Walk into an Auction
In the main story of Version 1.6, “Bury Your Tear with the Past,” players attend an auction for a mysterious item with connections to the Sacrifice, the strange Ethereal that the Proxies help Belabog Industries subdue. With the help of Victoria Housekeeping and the mayor of New Eridu, players will have to be quick before the phantom thieves syndicate, Mockingbird, swoops in and takes the item for themselves.
Lycaon will have to confront his past with a former ally, and a strange umbrella wielding girl named Vivian delivers a cryptic message to the Proxies. Who is friend and who is foe? Find out in Version 1.6.
New Events and Gameplay
Hollow Zero: Dancing on Strings
A new giant Ethereal has appeared in Hollow Zero, Ghepetto. This symbiotic Ethereal wields powerful and unpredictable attacks. It can also control other Ethereals to attack in its place. Destroy its arms and tail or take out the puppetted Ethereals to gain the upper hand. Choose to fight this new boss Ethereal along with a new difficulty rating in the Battlefront Purge mode of the Lost Void.
Hollow Zero: Shattered Edge
The Lost Void has gotten more dangerous, but that means the Hollow Zero Investigation Team has developed new countermeasures. Exclusive equipment has been added for Evelyn, Astra Yao, Jane Doe, and Corin that alters their combat capabilities. Try them out along with new stages, challenges, and enemies in the Perpetrator Battle mode of the Lost Void.
March On, Tiny Titan!
The Hollow Investigative Association (HIA) has been advancing their VR training technology, but a certain Bangboo named Tully gets more than they bargained for. A strange data malfunction makes Tully think it’s a hero of justice. Players will engage in top-down combat stages with Tully as a primary combatant. As they progress, Tully can be upgraded with more powerful weapons to fulfill its dream and return to reality. By completing this event, players can receive the A-rank agent Pulchra for free.
Virtual World: Battle Storm
When Corin receives a commission to investigate sightings of a ghost in the HIA VR system, she contacts the Proxies for help. Every day during the event, players can participate in themed stages with powerful combat buffs. Some may even require specific agents to challenge the boss. By achieving the highest ranks, players can earn upgrade materials, Polychromes, and other rewards.
