Some secrets are meant to be kept hidden. Many people will go to extreme lengths to keep their secrets that way. From shady business practices to sneaking around, secrets can be something as small as hiding a present to as big as living a double life. And, for Sakamoto, the secrets of the assassin world continue to go deeper and deeper. Here is the fifth episode review of Sakamoto Days.
SAKAMOTO DAYS Epsidode 5 Recap
Sakamoto Days episode 5 starts with Lu (who has now turned into a happy drunk) fighting with Obiguro. Obiguro asks why Lu seems to be holding back. Lu mentions the Sakamoto family rule of no killing. When Obiguro calls her stupid for following the rules of a family that isn’t her own, she becomes an angry drunk but sobers up quickly. Obiguro calls Lu strong and says she’s glad she’s fighting someone capable of handling her.
Back to Sakamoto and Boiled. Sakamoto holds no punches in their fight. Boiled is reminiscent of how Sakamoto was back in the day. Boiled says that Sakamoto’s family is holding him back.
Sakamoto disagrees. He talks about making a choice to protect his family instead of using his skills to hurt people and that’s what makes him strong as the fight ends. Boiled mentions that more assassins are going to come after him because of the bounty. However, Aoi overhears the conversation and is beyond upset. She lashes out at Sakamoto for keeping secrets from her and at Boiled for trying to harm Sakamoto. Boiled and Obiguro mention that all bounties go through their boss, but they don’t know where or who the boss is.
Investigating Secrets
The next day, Sakamoto leads Shin and Lu to a secret video rental store to learn about the Dondekai and to start their search for the boss. Sakamoto, Shin, and Lu find the Dondekai HQ and infiltrate it. They take out agents to get to the Boss’s office. They find a slew of dead agents in the office with Nagumo at the center, who explains that the elite members and the boss are dead from his hand. Nagumo explains that he has to kill Sakamoto and goes to knife Shin, but turns out it’s a prank.
Then, after getting beat up by Shin and Lu, Nagumo explains that all of the members were dead by the time he arrived to do some investigating. Also, he explains that 30 assassin groups who worked for the JAA died in the last few months and that the perp leaves an X at the scene. Shin asks why Nagumo is investigating. Nagumo explains that he’s part of The Order; an elite group of assassins who maintain balance within the JAA. Nagumo mentions that Sakamoto used to be part of The Order. The murders and Sakamoto’s bounty all started at the same time, leaving them to believe they were connected.
Review of SAKAMOTO DAYS Episode 5
This episode was by far one of my favorites. The fight scene between Boiled and Sakamoto was intense and action-packed, and the introduction of this new enemy X left me intrigued. What is the point of all of these murders? Who put the bounty on Sakamoto’s head and just exactly how is it all connected? Furthermore, the plot seems to be heating up towards an epic turning point with Sakamoto, and I am more than excited to see how it all shakes up as the show continues.
Want to keep up with Sakamoto Days? The anime can be watched on Netflix with new episodes out every Saturday. The manga can also be bought on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and read on the Shonen Jump app.
