Trust is something that is earned and when working in a team, you all need to trust one another. Although some of our characters have different mentalities when it comes to the work they do, the strong bond that connects them makes it possible to protect the ones they love. And, in turn, protect one another from any dangers and possible threats that come upon them. Here is our review of Sakamoto Days episode 3.
Recap of SAKAMOTO DAYS Episode 3
Sakamoto Days episode 3 starts with Shin scolding Lu for being two hours late to work and being terrible at her job. Shin asks Sakamoto to fire her. Sakamoto scolds him for talking rudely to Lu and then scolds Lu for being late. Both Shin and Lu are stunned; Sakamoto hasn’t been a very talkative character until now. The personality change is staggering. To make matters even stranger, another Sakamoto walks into the store! The first Sakamoto pulls a gun out on the second Sakamoto, and the second Sakamoto calls him Nagumo.
Nagumo (voiced by Aleks Le) turns into himself and praises Sakamoto’s skills, informing the trio that Sakamoto has a one billion bounty on his head. Also, he informs them that assassins will start coming to try and cash in on the bounty. Sakamoto isn’t too worried. However, his anxiety skyrockets when Aoi and Hana remind him they’re going to an amusement park tomorrow afternoon.
At the amusement park, Shin and Lu work together to ensure no assassins interrupt the outing the Sakamoto family is having. An assassin dressed up as a janitor named Kurii Ning (voiced by Kyle McCarley) underestimates Sakamoto due to his size and is immediately taken out by the trio. All seems well until another assassin named Tatsu (voiced by Xander Mobus) threatens the peace between the family. Shin tries to fight him off but ends up getting poisoned. He pushes through the pain and uses his skills to defeat him with the help of Sakamoto.
Overall Thoughts
I absolutely adored the family dynamic in this episode. Shin, Lu, and Sakamoto trying to ensure that Hana and Aoi have a great time while fighting off assassins was a highlight of episode 3. It was interesting to see how the three of them worked as a team. The trust Shin and Sakamoto have with one another is executed perfectly. With Sakamoto’s bounty, I do hope we see more of Sakamoto’s skills and in turn, see how Shin’s powers can be heightened as the series continues. I also enjoyed the almost sibling dynamic between Shin and Lu. While the pair have wildly different mindsets and can argue constantly, watching them work together (if only briefly), shows how much trust they seem to have in one another. They are quick to put their differences aside when the situation calls for it, and I hope that dynamic is explored within the anime.
