Gotta snap ‘em all! Pokémon fans gathered for Gaming with the Stars on August 17 during GalaxyCon San Jose to hang out with Sarah Natochenny, the voice of Ash Ketchum since 2006. She played Pokémon Snap, a photography-style game where the player must capture photos of different Pokémon to deliver to Professor Oak. She played while answering a few questions from moderator AbdallahSmash and Pokémon fans.

Natochenny looked back on her 17-year long career as Ash Ketchum’s voice actress. Also, she expressed her fondness of playing Pokémon, such as Buneary and Chansey. She is thankful for continuing to be a part of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, which is the first season with new protagonists. Natochenny laughed as she played Pokémon Snap, having not played it for many years, but improving as she kept playing during the session. She captured pictures of Pikachu, Magnemite, Lapras, Caterpie, and more.
Fans asked her questions about Pokémon and her work in the industry. She answered questions such as what is her favorite Pokémon, to which she gushed about her love of Pikachu. Furthermore, she went on about her love for cat Pokémon such as Sprigatito. She laughed as she reflected on having to say “Team Rocket” nearly 80 times in one session. Then, she performed some of the voices of Pokémon she’s voiced such as the Starley evolution line and Diglett.
When asked what kind of legacy Natochenny wanted to leave behind for the community and fans of Pokémon, she said, “The thing I’d really like to leave behind is be the very best like no one ever was, that’s the big message of Ash Ketchum.”
Outside of Pokémon, Natochenny can be heard as Yuzuha Shiba from Tokyo Revengers and Alya in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.
