The story of My Hero Academia has always been a story of acceptance and the many forms it can come in. From accepting someone no matter who they are or what they can do, to accepting the hardships thrown your way and using those to become better. We see the characters in the final chapters take this lesson to heart. Shoto and his family accept their parts in Dabi’s turn to villainy and accept his inevitable death. Ochaco learns to accept that Himiko’s passing was not her fault. Moreover, in a way, she did save Himiko Toga. Also, we watch as Izuku comes to accept that One For All is fading and that Shigaraki’s death was the catalyst for society to change for the better.

All the characters learn this lesson and change because of it in the end. Now, fans of the series are applying this lesson to themselves. They are accepting that the series has come to an end.

The Impact of the Series

People have been sharing their many experiences with the series across social media. They are sharing their favorite moments from the series, their favorite characters, and how they came to become fans of this beloved franchise. Also, fellow mangakas have been sharing their congratulations to Kohei Horikoshi. Gege Akutami, creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, stated that without My Hero Academia, his own series wouldn’t have been what it is today. One Piece mangaka, Eiichiro Oda, shared his support by redrawing Horikoshi’s fanart sent to Oda in 2002 and congratulating him. It’s clear through these displays of support that My Hero Academia was extremely influential throughout its time of serialization.

Fans of the series still have a lot to look forward to, however. My Hero Academia: You’re Next is expected to release worldwide on October 11, 2024. The anime is still in the middle of its seventh season. My Hero Ultra Rumble is also still receiving constant updates, with Overhaul recently being added to the game. One final popularity poll will be held to celebrate the series along with a fanart contest. The winning character will receive a special video in their honor and the fanart contest winner will receive a digital autograph from Kohei Horikoshi. You can currently stream My Hero Academia on Crunchyroll and Hulu. You can read the manga on Viz Media.
