To celebrate the release of Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle, fans of the series hosted a Haikyuu!! themed event at Senpais Cafe this past weekend. Haikyuu!! fan Lily Vue created a custom cupsleeve featuring characters Shoyo Hinata and Kenma Kozume, as well as the movie title. Her twin, Daisy, decorated the cafe with Haikyuu!! memorabilia, and the two ran the event together. This event was a collaboration between Senpais Cafe and the twins’ brand GaoTsuki.
Haiykuu!! Pop-Up Event
The three-day pop-up consisted of two event-specific drinks inspired by the Haikyuu!! high schools Karasuno and Nekoma with a custom cupsleeve designed by Lily. At the cafe, there was a photo opportunity area with Shoyo Hinata and Kenma Kozume cutouts, decorations throughout the cafe, a Haikyuu!! appreciation board, and a chance to shop Lily’s artwork from GaoTsuki.
Daisy and Lily were inspired to host a Haikyuu!! themed event not only because of The Dumpster Battle and celebrating new content after many years, but also because the franchise has made a large impact on their lives.
“Haikyuu!! has been one of the anime that has really filled both of our lives with so much love and joy. The struggles, the memories, and the meanings in every episode and arc have just given us something that we honestly can’t even explain unless you watch it. Even though we can’t explain it, Haikyuu!! gives us this push and this spark to hold onto the things we cherish, to reach for something bigger, and to support one another. Haikyuu!! has given both of us something so welcoming.”

Community Support for the Special Event
The twins were shocked at the community support for the pop up event. Though Daisy and Lily gave a short notice for their event, the anime community showed up and showed their appreciation for the widely loved volleyball anime. Some event goers from day one returned on day two with friends, and some customers came to the cafe in cosplay. The event started with 50 cupsleeves, and ended with only two left over.
“We wanted to give our Haikyuu!! community back something to say thank you. We wanted to show the care, love, and sincerity through this event because that’s what Haikyuu!! did for us,” Daisy said.
Fans showed their love of the anime by writing on sticky notes and posting on the Haikyuu!! appreciation board. “Thank you for helping me believe in myself no matter how hard the challenge!” one fan wrote. “No words can explain the way how Haikyuu!! has made me feel. Thank you Haikyuu!! for giving me a community that’s so welcoming,” another fan wrote.
“We were told that the photos we put up on the walls gave them chills. The memories in those photos really touched their hearts,” Daisy said.
The Future of More Fan-Created Pop-Ups
Lily and Daisy plan on hosting more cupsleeve events in the future, including but not limited to BLUE LOCK, Naruto, Plave, Ouran High School Host Club, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. For fans of Haikyuu!!, the two plan on hosting another event dedicated to the series, but with a maid cafe twist.
“We really appreciate everyone who came out to celebrate Haikyuu!! with us! The love and support from everyone has definitely made us want to do more, so we hope everyone continues to support us and look forward to the next events!” Daisy said.
