Happy meals are about to get much happier for anime and Sanrio fans, thanks to the Yu-Gi-Oh! x Hello Kitty and Friends plush toy collaboration at McDonald’s. The toys will make its debut at McDonald’s in the United States this summer.

Sanrio’s characters from Hello Kitty and Friends will be cosplaying different Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters in the collaboration. In addition to the plush toys, the characters will be featured on a variety of different packaging, games and menus. This collaboration celebrates Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and Yu-Gi-Oh’s 25th anniversary of the card game, according to the Liverpool Echo.

There are 10 plush toys confirmed with the following fusions:
- Hello Kitty as Dark Magician
- My Melody as Dark Magician Girl
- Badtz-maru as Red-Eyes Black Dragon
- Cinnamoroll as Blue-Eyes White Dragon
- Pochacco as Time Wizard
- Pompompurin as Exodia the Forbidden One
- Keroppi as Kuriboh
- Chococat as The Winged Dragon of Ra
- Tuxedosam as Obelisk the Tormentor
- Kuromi as Slifer the Sky Dragon
First launching in Europe this spring, Licensing International confirmed that the collection will be available in McDonald’s across 55 countries, including Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, and more.
About the Collaborators
Sanrio is a Japanese entertainment company and lifestyle brand founded in 1960. Sanrio produces kawaii (“cute”) products, such as stationary, plushies, accessories and more, and is best known for Hello Kitty (1974).
Yu Gi Oh! is a manga, anime and trading card series. Created by Kazuki Takahashi in 1996, the series focuses on Yugi Muto, a timid boy who solves the ancient Millennium Puzzle and becomes the host of a gambling, mysterious spirit from the puzzle. Yugi and his friends often duel the villains of the series using a deck of cards full of monsters, traps and spells.
