The second annual Anime Las Vegas took over The Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anime fans in attendance enjoyed a variety of cast panels from fan-favorite series. Among those cast panels was the Dragon Ball English Cast panel.
Dragon Ball English Cast Panel
The Dragon Ball Universe is a beloved series by multiple generations of anime fans. Created by the late Akira Toriyama in 1986, Dragon Ball follows the development of a warrior named Son Goku. Goku works hard to become the strongest he can be. Throughout each of the different series, Goku joins forces with his friends (and foes!) to protect Earth and use the dragon balls to grant wishes.
At Anime Las Vegas, many of the Dragon Ball English cast members appeared for a reunion panel. Among the voices actors in attendance were Sean Schemmel (Goku), Linda Young (Frieza), Justin Cook (Raditz), Dameon Clarke (Cell), Sonny Strait (Krillin/Bardock), Ian Sinclair (Whis), Jason Douglas (Beerus), Dale Kelly (Captain Ginyu), and Phil Parsons (Nappa).
Each panelist talked about their experiences working on the iconic series. One topic they discussed was their favorite arcs or storylines in the series.
Sean Schmemmel said, “I just like the entire Goku/Vegeta relationship. It’s its own story arc. That’s the most interesting part to me.” While Schemmel worked on voicing half of that relationship, fans cheered in agreement that seeing Goku and Vegeta grow together was an exciting part of the Dragon Ball series.
Justin Cook expressed that he enjoys the Future Trunks storyline that occurs in both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Playing with the timelines in both series is a fascinating plot point. Toriyama created alternate universes as well as provided insight into what the future would hold if the Z-fighters failed to properly prepare for incoming threats.
Sonny Strait said that the “Android Saga” was something he really liked.
"It was kind of early on. We were still getting used to matching mouth flaps on the screen. But there was a scene where he's [Krillin] got this device that can shut down the androids. And he's got this inner monologue, so I got to read it any way I wanted to. And so, I started really connecting with him at that point. I was like, 'Oh! I get you now! You're a sucker for love!'"

Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super are both available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
For those interested in reading the different manga, Dragon Ball Z is complete. However, Dragon Ball Super is on a hiatus due to the recent death of the creator. Both series are part of Shonen Jump, and can either be purchased per volume or read on the Shonen Jump app.
