Following the success of the first season of The Apothecary Diaries, the anime’s official social media accounts confirmed that season 2 is in the works with a 2025 release.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Announcement
Along with the season 2 announcement, a teaser trailer and a new visual a season 2 visual on the official The Apothecary Diaries social accounts. As of right now, the anime has not announced the exact release date for season 2.
The Apothecary Diaries was released in 2011, as a light novel, and continues to this day, written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Touko Shino, who also released the celebratory illustrations.Â
TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM produced the anime. Norihiko Naganuma is directing and composing. Also, Akinori Fudesaka is working as the assistant director. Currently, it seems that the voice actors from season 1 will reprise their roles for season 2.
About the Series
The historical romance anime The Apothecary Diaries is based during the Tang Dynasty of Imperial China. It follows Maomao, a young pharmacist suddenly kidnapped and sold to work as a servant in the Imperial Palace. Using her pre-existing medical knowledge, she explores and uncovers multiple medical mysteries hidden in the Imperial palace.Â
Season 2 likely focuses on the next two volumes of the light novel, starting with the third novel. This novel focuses on Maomao’s attempt to safely take care of the Consort Gyokokou during her pregnancy, which must be kept a complete secret. Maomao attempts to take care of the imperial consort while avoiding any backstabbing and facing the risks necessary to keep everything a secret.
With the overwhelming excitement from fans, it’s clear that season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries will be a hit. Crunchyroll recently finished streaming the first season of The Apothecary Diaries on March 23rd. All 24 episodes of the anime now readily available to fans.Â
