Missing the live action Straw Hats already? Well worry not, for Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 is already in the works!
About One Piece
Wealth, fame, power… One Piece follows the dream-centric adventure of the illusive Straw Hat Luffy, as he aims to gather a crew of misfits in search for Gold Roger, the previous king of the pirate’s treasure. Along with his right hand swordsman Zoro, navigator Nami, lying sniper Ussop, and love-stricken cook Sanji, the Straw Hats pirates travel the East Blue, and eventually the Grand Line, in pursuit of their dreams. From being chased by marines, hunting big bad buggy bosses, and crumbling the reputation of pirates above them, the search for the one piece has definitely begun the great pirate era.
The live action adaptation, as many hardcore fans have said, is one of the first adaptations from anime to film to break the curse. The plague of bad live actions made many scared of where their favorite stretchy captain might end up, but as it turns out, One Piece garnered quite high ratings, along with an even larger audience. The more realistic aspects helped this goofy world transition, and instead of being a 1-to-1 reenactment of the anime, became its own independent retelling of Eichiro Oda’s famous story.

Netflix and the official One Piece Live Action page released this teaser, revealing that work on the screenwriting for season 2 has kicked off with the renewal of the title. The scripts are going to take time to produce, as Oda says. Their intent to tell the story of the Grand Line is more than enough for many new and old fans alike.
Oda discusses his process with season one, along with a congratulations to everyone behind the production. It’s a nice sentiment to see all the work pay off. And to add the cherry on top, he reveals that the straw hats may need an educated doctor to keep them healthy on their travels, along with a casual sketch of everyone’s favorite blue-nosed reindeer, Chopper!
