It has been over 10 years since the Season 2 of Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me to You anime concluded in 2011. Netflix announced that the original cast is returning to give fans a third season! The new season will be released exclusively on Netflix and will air sometime in 2024.
There are spoilers for the end of season two in this article.
Kimi Ni Todoke
Kimi Ni Todoke is a romance anime/manga written by Karuho Shiina, that follows a freshman high school girl named Sawako Kuronuma. Sawako’s classmates call her “Sadako” due to her long, dark hair and pale skin that resembles the demon in the film The Ring. Her appearance and her reserved nature lead her to be misunderstood by her classmates. That is, until she befriends the popular boy in school, Kazehaya Shota. In watching their friendship, the audience sees them slowly fall in love with each other.
Fans should be excited for Season 3 as the original Japanese lead voice actors will be making a return; Mamiko Noto as Sawako and Daisuke Namikawa as Kazehaya. IG productions had previously produced the first 2 seasons and will be producing the third season. Additionally, the series writer, Karuho Shiina, shared their excitement over the return of the animated series and drew a special illustration in support:
“I think everyone who enjoyed the anime back then was very surprised by the re-animation after a long time. I was also at that time. He is one of the people who entertained me. I was very surprised and I am very, very happy. I was allowed to watch the post-recording, but Sawako is Sawako and Kazehaya is Kazehaya. I was moved by the acting of the wonderful cast, who couldn’t believe that it’s been more than 10 years. The art is also amazing. It’s cute! The unity of each episode is too wonderful, so let’s enjoy it together again!”
[SPOILER] Season 2 of the Kimi Ni Todoke anime ends with Sawako and Kazehaya on a date and they express their feelings for one another. The anime concludes Season 2 on Chapter 46 of the manga.
As of right now, the anime series has 37 episodes. There has been no further announcement as to how many episodes Season 3 will have. However, fans can anticipate a new season filled with love and nostalgia. Until the Season 3 premiere, fans can catch up or rewatch Season 1 and 2 streaming on Netflix.
