With the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc of Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season finished, fans are gearing up for next week’s premiere of the highly anticipated Shibuya Incident Arc. A trailer and brand new key visual for the arc dropped today, promising fans that the rest of the season is going to be action packed with a who’s who of beloved (and reviled) characters.
JUJUTSU KAISEN Season 2
The new season of the hit anime premiered on July 6, with the first five episodes being a flashback to Satoru Gojo’s life as a student at Jujutsu High, before he unlocked his full potential and became the “strongest sorcerer.” While relatively short in comparison to the remainder of the season, the five episodes packed an emotional punch as they told the story of how Gojo’s closest friend, Suguru Geto, abandoned the world of jujutsu sorcery and became a mass murderer. While those who have seen the Jujutsu Kaisen: Volume 0 movie knew where things would end up for the two of them, the episodes provided some key information on Geto’s motivations, as well as some insight into the human behind the seemingly unbeatable Gojo.

Now, after a brief hiatus, the show is bringing viewers back to the present, where the plan Geto alluded to in the first season as taking place in Shibuya on October 31st is about to get underway. All of the characters fans loved are back, including the main trio of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki.
The trailer also offers a look at the returning villains, including Geto, Mahito, Jogo, and of course, Sukuna.
Both the trailer and the key visual for the Shibuya Arc show some new faces as well, promising an expansion of the Jujutsu Kaisen world.
Through the course of the trailer, fans get a glimpse of the fights to come as one of the most intense and shocking arcs of Gege Akutami’s manga begins to unfold.
The trailer also features the new opening theme, titled SPECIALZ and performed by previous Jujutsu Kaisen collaborator King Gnu. The J-pop band also provided the opening and closing songs for the franchise’s 2021 film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, titled ‘Ichizu’ (The Only Way) and ‘Sakayume’ (Contradictory Dream) respecitvely.
The first episode of the Shibuya Incident Arc premieres on August 31 and will be available on Crunchyroll. It will span 18 episodes in total.
