In this article, I’ve pieced together the purrrfect list of some of the most memorable felines in anime history for all the cat lovers out there!
5. Blair - Soul Eater
Don’t be fooled by the magical being before you because that’s really a cat! Once mistaken as a witch by Maka Albarn and Soul Evans, while trying to obtain a witch’s soul to turn Soul into a death scythe, they soon realized their error once one of her nine lives was consumed. However, Blair is no ordinary cat and does possess magic and can conjure up pumpkins she often uses as bombs, so it is an easy mistake to think she is a witch.
4. Happy - Fairy Tail
At number four, I present to you, Happy! Found as an egg by Natsu in the East Forest of Magnolia Town, in a tree, the two have been inseparable since and Happy even tries to emulate Natsu’s personality. This winged cutie might be tiny, but he will never shy away from a fight, and he is loyal to his guildmates through and through!
3. Jiji - Kiki’s Delivery Service
As a witch in training, what can be better than having a black cat as your familiar? Having Jiji as your familiar! Throughout the film, Jiji is meant to be a representation of Kiki’s childish side, and when she is no longer able to communicate with him it shows her growth in maturity.
2. Luna - Sailor Moon
Luna is another pawsitively purrfect choice when it comes to anime’s most memorable felines! Introduced in the very first episode of Sailor Moon, Luna’s role has been to guide and support Usagi Tsukino into becoming a Sailor Guardian and can be seen throughout the franchise with her partner Artemis, and daughter Diana.
1. Meowth - Pokémon
Everyone loves a good villain, so of course Meowth sits at number one! This guy had a hard life growing up on the streets, but was eventually taken in by Team Rocket to create the infamous trio with partners Jesse and James to try and catch Pikachu.
