Las Vegas Food: Anime Boba Cafe

Do you love engulfing yourself in anime while eating authentic Japanese food? Then you, my dear reader, have stumbled upon the best secret in town! Anime Boba Cafe, located just outside of Las Vegas, is a one stop shop for Anime fans and Teriyaki bowl lovers alike. This kawaii kissaten offers a specialized culinary experience, delicious boba, games, and anime-centric atmosphere!

Anime Boba Cafe features a vast array of manga and décor from some of our favorite shows, classic video games like Atari Pong and Streetfighter, as well as complimentary board games to play while you wait. As soon as you step through their doors, you’re greeted by a life-size statue of the GOAT Uzumaki Naruto, feeling like you’ve been transported back in time to a hip Kyoto ramen house from the early 2000s. However, they have a lot to offer from both classic and current Anime.

Thai Tea with Boba – 9/10

To start off, I ordered a Thai Tea Boba and a Teriyaki Bowl. The Thai Tea was a sweet and creamy, burnt orange, spiced black tea beverage with rich tapioca at the bottom that absorbed every flavor that it had to offer. It had a bold and earthy sweetness with a creamy texture that paired well with the chewy tapioca pearls.

Teriyaki Bowl – 7/10

The Teriyaki Bowl was well executed, but I feel like there was a couple of areas of opportunity. The chicken was well seasoned and not over cooked. The broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots were steamed until they were tender enough to be desirable by the palate. The rice was both sticky and fluffy, but there was an improper meat to rice ratio and absolutely not enough for a large rice loving writer like me. The second issue was the Teriyaki sauce. I typically prefer a thicker sauce, heavy on the brown sugar and garlic, with strong umami. The sauce encountered here was passable, but had a lighter, less prominent flavor that lacked sweetness and presence in the dish.

Miso Ramen – 8/10

The Miso Ramen with Chashu pork was flavorful, with a rich base made from a delectable pork broth, and the earthy tones of hatcho miso. It featured corn, spring onion, soft boiled egg, perfect noodles, and topped off with traditional narutomaki. Considering it was served in a plastic to-go container, this ramen was still just as photogenic as it was delicious.
