IRIS OUT Potentially Heads to the Grammys

Kenshi Yonezu’s single Iris Out from the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc film is a possible contender for the 2027 Grammy Awards. The single is a possible nomination for the Best Asian Pop Music Performance and the Best Song Written for Visual Media categories, though fans won’t know if the single is an official nomination until the full list of nominees is announced on November 16th.

The single is the first anime song to be officially submitted for a Grammy nomination. Alongside the success of the film, Kenshi Yonezu’s track has accumulated multiple awards since its debut in September 2025, as well as his second track, “Jane Doe,” in collaboration with Japanese-American singer Hikaru Utada, which served as the ending credits song to the Chainsaw Man film.

Iris Outs Awards and Recognitions

Iris Out has won multiple awards, including Best J-Pop Song and Best Japanese Song in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia at the Music Award Japan 2026. The track has had worldwide attention since its debut in September of 2025, debuting at number 1 on Billboard Japan’s streaming chart and then again on an international level in October of 2025 as the 5th streamed song on Billboard Global 200.

The popularity of Kenshi Yonezu’s single on a global scale truly cements the sudden spike that anime has on the world. Even after the film’s release, the song Iris Out continued to generate streams on a worldwide level, with even a viral dance called the “Reze Dance” sparking a trend. While we won’t know until November 16th if the track is an official Grammy contender, the simple act of the track being nominated is a feat in itself. The full release of Grammy nominations will be announced on November 16th, 2026 and the 2027 Grammy ceremony is scheduled to premiere on February 7th, 2027.
