FOR YOUR EYES ONLY: The names and mission briefings you are about to read are declassified accounts of the ongoing mission known as Shinobi Undercover. From members of the Ninja Public Safety Force, their assignments, and encounters with both adversaries and civilians have been rendered necessary for study under the guidance of the top-secret debriefing commissioner known only as “The Operator”. Any contact between yourself, the NPSF, and the operator overseeing the operation is strictly prohibited.
Yodaka
Yu Nozuki, a first-year student, CODENAME: Yodaka, The Nightjar, a master in the arts of ninjutsu, has incredible strength, speed, and versatility. Contrary to his natural abilities, he has crippling anxiety when it comes to talking to people. He immediately opposed his position of being assigned to be Aoi’s protector until she instigated the friendship personally.
His inability to make friends, or even make coherent sentences for that matter, had inadvertently brought him that much closer to the assignment, much more so than the overseers of the operation had thought possible. Yodaka’s role of protector is currently being reevaluated, but with the shifting climate of attacks coupled with his interactions with the assignment, it’s unclear whether Yodaka can stay as Aoi’s protector, or perhaps be reassigned to a role previously befitting another SPSF member.
The Assignment
Aoi Mukai, First-year student, CODENAME: The Assignment, the daughter and sole heir of rich parents who were murdered by rogue ninja. She may be a walking typhoon of clumsiness, but somehow is partially aware of how her life is being manufactured around her, which is why she’s so compelled to be friends with Yu Nozuki, codenamed Yodaka, rather than a friend chosen for her by the NPSF.
Hibari
Kana Fujimiya, First-year student, CODENAME: Hibari, the Skylark, assigned to be Aoi’s best friend, a complete psychopath for violence provided she has the upper hand. She obsesses over any of her assignments, including being the “best” best friend with the assignment. Her undercover disguise had indirectly attracted the attention of Tsubami, the first rogue ninja assigned to terminate members of the NPSF. With her disguise and obsession in turmoil, her psyche was easily compromised by Tsubami, which made her almost terminated by him if not for Yodaka intervening. Hibari is now taking personal steps toward being a better friend to Yodaka pending his close involvement with the assignment. Again, with her obsession with their relationship, she has become very jealous of Yodaka.
Umineko
Taki Utsumi, First-year student, CODENAME: Umineko, the Gull, the strongest ninja of the group. Originally assigned to be the assignment’s boyfriend until progress with Yodaka had unexpectedly been made. Designated as “the pretty boy” and is considered aodaka’s senpai regardless of them both being assigned as first-year students to the same high school.
However, with the power dynamic between the two having been established with Yodaka having the upper hand, both by being able to fend off attacks from different adversaries on two separate occasions without the aid of Hibari or Umineko, Umineko now idolizes Yodaka for his strength and tenacity. And, with each confrontation thwarted by Yodaka, without knowledge by the assignment, of course, Aoi became more attached to him, leaving Umineko on standby to be the assignment’s boyfriend for the time being.
Tsubami
Miyaki, a first-year student, CODENAME: Tsubami, The Swallow, assigned to eliminate the ninja protectors of the assignment Aoi. The first fugitive ninja, previously a part of the Ninja Public Safety Force, to have successfully integrated into the high school undetected and to have made first contact with the assignment. He established first contact by portraying himself as an initiate of the soccer club, but later broke his cover when he attacked Hibari. He was defeated by Yodaka, but managed to escape capture. Tsubami uses throwing spikes as his primary weapons, amazing strength and speed, and uses psychological warfare towards his opponents mid-fight.
Final Assessment
With every added iteration of the ongoing operation known as Shinobi Undercover, the overseer of the mission has estimated that neither the members of the NPSF or any of the rogue agents that repeatedly targeted the assignment have succumbed to their injuries or abandoned the campaign altogether.
Our hypothesis is that Shinobi Undercover is doing its best to be preserved within the confines of the “Teen” age rating, and that any operatives in question would subsequently be “removed” from a popularity standpoint, and soon after replaced with a fresh, new operative that may carry out their duties with much more efficiency. The overseer’s assessment shall be maintained as the operation goes on.
