Sonic Live in Concert Delivers Super Performance

The touring band for Sonic Live in Concert delivered a performance worthy of the Chaos Emerald, and I had the chance to watch it! Being able to hear the songs from Sonic 1 all the way to Sonic Frontiers was an absolute joy.

Fans came in droves to the Las Vegas stop of the tour and showed their love for the series in different ways. From wearing themed apparel and bringing plushies, to wearing impressive cosplays, the love for the series was evident in the theater. While in line to get a shirt, I talked to another fan and we had a great conversation about our favorite games, characters, and moments in the franchise.

The Show Begins

After everyone took their seats, the band all came out, and the musical director greeted the crowd before the concert began. The concert began with medleys from the classic games, and the excitement at hearing music from the early days rolled through the audience almost like a wave. After the classic games, the show continued on into music from Adventure, Adventure 2, and Heroes. The Heroes medley was my personal favorite performance of the show since it was my first video game ever and the nostalgia I have for it is unmatched to anything else in the series. I couldn’t help but sing along to all the songs they had for the medley.

After a 20-minute intermission, the band came back on stage and performed music from Sonic Rush all the way up to where the series is now. A lot of my personal favorite songs were part of this set, and the Final Boss medley was amazing to hear live. But the biggest highlight of the second half was the Frontiers medley. It turned into a full-on rock concert, and the crowd was going wild, especially during Undefeatable, one of the boss themes from Sonic Frontiers. The band then performed one last song as an encore. The song was Speed is my Life and was written for the 35th anniversary, using some of the series’s most iconic levels tracks as samples. Once the concert was over, the audience was in an absolute uproar, and it was clear everyone had an amazing time.

Overall Thoughts

As a longtime fan of the series, attending an event like this was truly a great time. Some of the music from the Sonic games has truly been my favorite throughout my life, and being able to reminisce about memories I have with these games as the music played was a feeling that was unmatched for me. If you are fans of the series and have a show coming to a place nearby, I highly recommend attending the show if you can. You won’t regret it.
