Fans of Maomao and other witty characters of the hit anime The Apothecary Diaries can cheer for the exciting news of Season 3 arriving very soon! An official confirmation was released by Crunchyroll that the hit series will air Part 1 in October 2026.

TOHO Animation Studio and OLM will once again bring the vibrant, colored and richly detailed world back to life. All familiar voice actors are expected to reprise their roles. The anime is set to continue the manga adaptation, following the captivating journey of Maomao, a jade green-haired, quirky yet brilliant young apothecary whose knowledge of poisons and medical expertise has made her one of the most beloved protagonists. Her eccentric attitude and pragmatic ability to find trouble add to her enduring attraction.
Following the massive success of the first two seasons, fans anticipate that the series will pull from chapters of Natsu Hyūga’s popular light novel series, taking Maomao beyond the Imperial Palace into a brand-new setting filled with more than political intrigue. Hints of dangerous conspiracies and complex medical mysteries are sure to be included.
Fans are also eager to see the relationship between Maomao and Jinshi blossom, developing into one of more emotional depth. We last saw these fan-favorite characters interrupted as Jinshi initiated an intimate moment. But as with any anime, there are sure to be new challenges that test their patience, trust, and loyalty.

Crunchyroll shared that the upcoming season will be released as a split-cour series, sharing in June that the first part will premiere in October 2026 and the second is scheduled for April 2027. Fans won’t have to wait long for the new episodes. While the split-cour provides quite a wait, there is an original anime movie for The Apothecary Diaries planned for December 2026. This will give fans something to curb their cravings between the two parts of the season.
