Did you know that the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) has its own anime convention? Hosted by students from the Davis Anime Club “DAC,” Davis Anime Convention “DAiCon” is this Sunday, April 26, at the Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center / UC Davis Conference Center.
Students begin preparing for the convention a year prior, in the summer. They book the venue and voice actors as far in advance as possible, but ramp up the preparation in winter. Students put the finishing touches on the event during the spring quarter.
“I’m most excited to see everything come together!” said Dasha Tymoshchuk, President of DAC. “I’m also very excited for the Artist Alley, although I’m a bit biased as one of the Artist Alley Directors!”
Activities
DAiCon will have plenty of activities for attendees on campus, including:
- Artist alley
- Cosplay gatherings
- Games (Video, Board, and Card Games, Tournaments)
- Panels
- Stage Performances

DAiCon will have eight special guests, including three voice actors and five cosplayers:

About DAiCon
DAiCon is a 100% student-run anime convention. Beginning in 2012, it was originally held on campus at the Memorial Union for two years. The convention was initially revived in 2019, but was canceled the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The convention returned in 2025, selling over 450 tickets. Now, DAiCon is back for its second year, with 21 Directors and over 40 volunteers.
DAiCon will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $25. Check out everything DAiCon has to offer in its official pamphlet.
