JJK Modulo Chapter 25 Review

A Secured Future

In the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, the present threat is resolved. The world is at peace for the time being and the future lies ahead with untold hardships. But for now, a game of catch is in order.

The Simurian council decides to continue to live in peace with the Kalyans and the Japanese. With the nature of cursed energy forever changed, they’re determined more than ever to live true to their ways. Meanwhile, Yuji meets with Nobara Kugisaki to discuss future countermeasures and security.

The Japanese and Simurians bond over a light game of catch. They discuss how the government might react, the general populace’s reaction to cursed spirits and aliens, and reaffirm their continued pursuit of coexistence.

A Fitting End

As far as ending a series goes, Akutami (writer) managed to pull off a pretty satisfying one. It was still riddled with a lot of talking and lengthy exposition. And yet, I think what made it tolerable were the characters. After almost 11 chapters of nonstop fighting, it’s a nice break to just talk without any imminent threats.

I think the biggest surprise came from Yuji and Nobara’s conversation. The characters have certainly mellowed out, but Iwasaki (artist) still captured the bond they share. It really felt no different from the original series, albeit with a little more responsibility on their shoulders. In that same vein, seeing the Okkotsu siblings finally reconnect with Maru and Cross was such a heart-warming scene. Yuka in particular has been completely absent from the story, so it’s great seeing her again. What really sells their relationship is the light in their eyes. They aren’t scowling or glaring daggers at each other anymore. Iwasaki once again has captured that softness.

This final chapter manages to wrap up all the conflicts in an idyllic bow. The dialogue carries a sense of finality that leaves room for expansion, but ultimately closes the book on this series. I would be very surprised if Akutami chose to write another sequel. He’s demonstrated a dedication and passion for this world, along with a strong message behind it. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time reading Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. The series is available to read on the official VIZ Media manga webpage for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
