After a Decade, Yona of the Dawn Returns for Season Two

After 11-years, the dawn rises once more, and standing in the blush of it is a princess named Yona. Fans are overjoyed that the popular shoujo beat manga series, Yona of the Dawn, that just came to a conclusion has finally been renewed for a season two. The anime series aired in 2014, and has had no talks of any renewal until recently.

Why Has It Been So Long for Season Two of Yona?

Yona

While Yona of the Dawn overtime has become such a beloved series, in 2014 when it first aired, it was not as talked about as it is now. That year was a huge year for anime such as Tokyo Ghoul, Haikyu!!, and Sword Art Online II to air. In addition, the manga was still an ongoing series, so now that the manga has reached its conclusion, the anime can freely tell the whole tale.

Yona of the Dawn has gained more popularity from dedicated fans recommending the anime to others. Plus, with the current rise of shows such as The Apothecary Diaries, there is a higher demand for a resurgence.

What Can Fans Expect in Season Two?

Yona of the Dawn

The second season of Yona of the Dawn should continue where the first season left off, where we will follow Yona, Hak, Yoon, and the four dragon warriors as they traverse through Kouka Kingdom. For manga fans, this is known as the Happy Hungry Bunch Arc, which is wildly loved for its blend of humor and character growth.

If you are on the fence about starting Yona of the Dawn before the second season, check out these five reasons you should get into the series.

The Impact Yona Has

Yona

If this green light for a beloved shoujo series has shown fans anything, it is that there is still hope. There have been countless shoujo anime that have fallen to the wayside, with no hope for a reboot or second season insight.

Now, with Yona returning at a pivotal time for new and old shoujo series, it truly feels like anything is possible. Much like the red-headed princess herself, through growth and resilience truly is the way fans have been rewarded and hopefully will continue to be rewarded if the series carries on until the final conclusion.
