Rise above and beat the odds! Fist of the North Star receives a new adaptation slated for 2026. The martial arts/ post-apocalyptic manga revealed a new trailer on YouTube along with cast members, character visuals and staff on their website.
Fist of the North Star is no stranger to adaptations, with multiple movies, OVAs, a video game, and an original 1984 anime series under its belt. The original manga was serialized from 1983 to 1988, written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara. Hiroshi Maeda joins the cast as director of the 2026 adaptation alongside NIA Animation Inc./ Kishida Inc., Studio BACU. Additionally, musician Yuki Hayashi, who is known widely for his musical work on anime such as My Hero Academia, Haikyu!! and Sakamoto Days, provides his talents as well.
An array of voice actors assist with providing their voices in this star-studded cast. Shunsuke Takeuchi, who’s known for voicing Einar in Vinland Saga and Aoi Kaguragi in Kaiju No. 8, lends his voice talents as the main character Kenshiro. Koji Yusa voices Shin, Saori Hayami voices Yuria and Daiki Yamashita voices Bat.

In the year 199X, the world is engulfed in a nuclear inferno! The seas have vanished. The earth lies in ruins. It seems all life has been wiped out…but humanity has not perished!
Across the scorched and broken land, survivors cling to hope, desperately searching for food and water. However, their hopes are trampled underfoot by violence. Might makes right in this world, and the weak are crushed without mercy.
From the depths of that despair, a lone mane with seven scars on his chest emerges. His name is Kenshiro, heir to the legendary assassination art Hokuto Shinken. As he roams the wasteland in pursuit of his sworn enemy Shin, who stole his fiancée Yuria, Kensiro answers the cries of the oppressed, becoming a beacon of hope in a world of despair.
