The secret of the Indo family finally comes to light after a conversation with Yoshiki’s father. As Yoshiki tries to investigate further, Hikaru struggles with trying to fit in. Emotions are at an all time high and the boys struggle to keep themselves and their relationship together, lest it all falls apart. Here is the 11th episode review of The Summer Hikaru Died.
Overview
Yoshiki questions about the Indo family’s sin. Hesitant to answer, Yoshiki’s father explains that a long time ago, the head of the Indo family’s wife had passed from a disease. Devastated, the family trekked up the mountain and asked for the wife’s return in exchange of bringing the heads of anyone not from the Indo family. The wife’s head came back to life, however a third of the village passed and the wife passed away again that night. As Yoshiki goes over the information with Hikaru, HIkaru suddenly attacks him as black mass spills from the scar on his neck. He pauses at the last second however and calls himself a monster before running off, thinking he’s undeserving to try and fit in as a human.
Final Thoughts
This episode was a somber one, finally revealing the Indo family’s sin as nothing more than a simple act of desperation for a loved one. It makes me wonder if Yoshiki would do the same; let this version of Hikaru die to have the old one back. It was nice to see him talk with his father considering how strained their relationship has been since the start of the series. Also, I’m a little worried about Hikaru’s mental state with the investigation on what exactly he is. Watching him fall apart dealing with his feelings and trying not to hurt Yoshiki makes me anxious for the final episode of the series.
