On September 14th in Orange, CA, Astrum Productions, Summoner’s Stories and Love and Deepsleeves teamed up to put on the Deepspace Gala! This unofficial Love and Deepspace (LADS) black tie fan event had everything. From a ballroom, where you can learn ballroom dances from professional instructors, to an immersive artist alley that offered photo ops, a special Abyssal Chaos side quest, and even a very special meet and greet opportunity with their special guest cosplayer, Thames Malerose. This event pulled out all the stops!
The Thames meet and greet was based on Love and Deepspace’s Tomorrow’s Catch-22 Memory. The photobooth had lots of props for us to choose from and had a themed overlay featuring all the love interests. It’s the perfect souvenir!
About Deepspace Gala
The Gala offered four ticket tiers and also held sidequest activities that didn’t require tickets to attend. I purchased the Shining Gala tier, which included all of the second row items shown in the photo below. I was very impressed by the number of perks I received for $75.
What stood out the most to me was the attention to detail. Being that it was planned by fans of Love and Deepspace, there were a lot of nods to the game throughout the event, making it feel all the more immersive. The photobooth, live performances of the game music and the claw machine were some of my personal favorites.
Cosplayer Interactions
Another detail I appreciated was the cosplay interaction tier levels. Before even entering the event, guests were able to let the organizers know their comfort level with interactions throughout the event, through color-coded lanyards. This was a very thoughtful gesture, and for more shy or introverted guests, it allowed them to enjoy the event without any unwanted attention. I wish this process were applied to more events.
Speaking of cosplayers, their cosplay cast was top-notch. The professionalism and commitment to the characters was incredible. It truly made the event feel as though you were in Linkon for a night. They had two official casts for each love interest, and then Thames Malerose was available for a meet and greet as Sylus. As a Xavier girly, the highlight of my night was getting to dance with him. I’m no professional dancer, but they provided a safe environment to learn. Shout out to the wonderful cosplayer Harumishiri for the dance and Keirafilms for capturing this fairytale moment! As a Xavier main, I was living out my dreams!
Overall Thoughts
The event was amazing, and honestly, I have zero notes! They covered everything at this event. The location was 10/10. The food options were great. The cosplayers were phenomenal. The organizers did a great job informing attendees leading up to the event and the different tiers they provided for tickets were all reasonably priced considering all the benefits provided.
I look forward to more events from Astrum Productions, Summoner’s Stories and Love and Deepsleeves. I’ve attended a few LADS events from them, such as Xavier’s Birthday Cupsleeve, Deepspace White Day and 365 Days in Deepspace. The events just keep leveling up every time. If you’re a Love and Deepspace fan, keep an eye on their socials because their events are on another level!
