Frieren Panel Premieres Exciting New Season Two Teaser Trailer

Fans who attended Anime Expo in Los Angeles got to witness the world premiere trailer for season two of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. In addition to the new trailer, a January 2026 release was announced.

The panel included Chiaki Kobayashi, who voiced Stark, Yuichiro Fukushi, the anime’s producer, and Evan Call, who will return to compose the second season. Throughout the panel, each of them discussed their experiences on the show and expressed their excitement for the upcoming season.

Fukushi announced that season two of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be directed by Tomoya Kitagawa, who directed a few episodes of season one and worked on storyboards. Kitagawa previously directed an episode of Spy x Family and three episodes of Sonny Boy.

As for the season one director, Keiichiro Saito, he will return for season two to oversee the show– this time, as Supervising Director. Daiki Harashina will work as Assistant Director, with the composition written by Tomohiro Suzuki and Concept Art created by Seiko Yoshioka. Alongside them will be Takasemaru, Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka, who will work on the character designs.

Season one of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is widely acclaimed by anime fans around the world. The anime was nominated for 17 categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year. It won four awards: Best Director (Keiichiro Saito), Best Drama, Best Background Art, and Best Supporting Character (Fern).

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End follows Frieren, an elf mage, after her party’s defeat of the Demon King. Because elves have much longer lifespans than humans and dwarves, she outlives her party members. When the last of her friends passes away, Frieren reflects on their time together. She soon decides to learn more about humans and their ways of life. After taking a new apprentice under her wing, Frieren begins to discover the truth about mortality, human relationships, and life in general. The manga, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, was written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Ave.
