On January 18, Kuma-Rama, a popular anime café in Texas, hosted a special meet-and-greet event featuring voice actors from the game Zenless Zone Zero. Sam Slade, the voice of Anby, and Giselle Fernandez, the voice of Ellen Joe, made an appearance to sign merchandise and meet fans!
About Kuma-Rama
Kuma-Rama is a local store in Spring, TX, specializing in anime-related gifts and merchandise. They sell card games, figures, plushies, cosplay accessories, T-shirts, and other anime themed items. There’s even a crane machine and arcade games for customers looking to hang out.
Their other attraction is the built-in café where they offer drinks and pastries. Kuma-Rama is a welcoming, friendly hangout spot where you can celebrate all things anime. Most importantly, they invited Sam and Giselle, for a one day only casual meet-and-greet and print signing.
Meet and Greet
Kuma-Rama had plenty of themed merchandise, everything from prints to acrylic character standees. Sam and Giselle even brought their own supply of prints commissioned from independent artists. They set up at the back of the store where fans could meet them, get items signed, and have a short chat. I got two wall scrolls signed and asked them both about their voice-acting journey and how they built their careers.
Sam Slade started with no acting experience, wanting to find a creative outlet during the COVID-19 pandemic. She started auditioning for unpaid and independent projects and gained a foothold in the industry. Her two biggest pieces of advice were “be polite, persistent, and professional” and “never tell yourself no.” Sam is best known for her roles as Anby in Zenless Zone Zero, Topaz and Numby in Honkai: Star Rail, and Baldr in Fire Emblem Heroes.
Giselle Fernandez is a non-binary voice actor and started very young, helping their father voice commercials. They eventually pivoted to science and became an entomologist. Then they found themselves moving to LA where they kicked off their voice acting career. They can be heard as Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero, Daisy in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Aki Inoue in Lonely Castle in the Mirror.
