New Netflix Anime ‘The Summer Hikaru Died’ Coming Soon

Following the incredible success of the award-winning manga, The Summer Hikaru Died, by author Mokumokuren, Netflix recently revealed a sneak peek at the anime with a teaser trailer. In addition, the anime is set to be released in the summer of 2025, with no official release date announced.

About The Summer Hikaru Died

The slice of life meets horror style series, The Summer Hikaru Died follows two best friends, Yoshiki and Hikaru, who live in a rural town. Their friendship is pretty normal, until a mysterious entity replaces one of the boys and pretends to be him. The series follows their creepy and weird new friendship, how they navigate life together as a regular boy and a supernatural being, with feelings and memories being shared between the two.

Earlier this year, the official site and social media accounts announced an anime adaptation was in the works. However, the teaser trailer and art were the first visual glimpses of the anime since then.
