At Anime Expo, and on the official RWBY X account, it was officially revealed that Viz Media has become the new owner of the RWBY IP following Rooster Teeth’s closure. Viz Media has released a statement blog on their website that goes more in-depth.

On the official RWBY X account, series writer and showrunner Kerry Shawcross, and Yang Xiao Long’s voice actress Barbara Dunkelman revealed that Viz Media had been officially declared the new home for RWBY content. With this announcement, it means that Viz Media will be in charge of the production, distribution, licensing, and official merchandise for the series. Also, they revealed they are continuing talks as to what the future has in store for the franchise, including any future updates that will be posted on Viz Media’s website.
In the blog post by Viz Media, they answered many of the common questions that fans have. Following the sudden removal of the show from Crunchyroll, and the soundtracks off of music streaming platforms, Viz Media has clarified that both the show and music will be back to streaming services soon. Additionally, they confirmed that while there is no news on Volume 10 of the series, you are encouraged to stay tuned to the Viz Media and RWBY social media pages for future announcements.
Kerry Shawcross confidently advised that they will continue to be the showrunner in this new era of the franchise. There is no official word regarding the current cast or if they will return as voice actors for the show. A new piece of art was also revealed that teased the new outfits for the titular team as they begin their journey in Vacuo.
Viz Media is not a stranger to the RWBY franchise. They have partnered before to make a manga series based on the hit series, as well as create an official companion book, The World of RWBY. The main series RWBY, cannot be streamed. However, the side story, RWBY: Ice Queendom, is still available on Crunchyroll.
