With the newly announced 2024 release, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Dimps revealed the newest Sword Art Online game entitled Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream. The game was announced at the Nintendo Partner Showcase, held yesterday.

Although not much has been revealed about the game, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream allows players to battle in different raids against various bosses, while also being able to explore, customize characters and go on quests.
From the newly released trailer, the game seems to have an original storyline. Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream will be available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox series X|S and PC via Steam.
Bandai Namco Entertainment described Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream as a “large-scale multiplayer-focused adventure,” allowing up to 20 players for raid parties, with a single-player offline option offered as well. The game will also be cross-platform allowing you to play with players around the world and all their friends.
There will be a closed beta testing of the game from March 11 through March 17, with the exact schedule available from Bandai Namco. Players will get to pick between two different modes, either ‘Co-op Quest’ which focuses on missions and exploration or ‘Boss Raid.’.
Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream offers over 20 various Sword Art Online characters for players to choose. Only some characters will be playable in the beta testing, including Kirito, Agil, Argo, Sinon, Oberon and Leafa.
Sword Art Online (SAO) is an anime series based on a fictional MMORPG world, where the characters get trapped in the virtual universe and try to escape. Since the anime’s release, there have been numerous games released, creating a game within a game universe.
While we wait for the game’s official release date, fans can watch the anime Sword Art Online on Crunchyroll or find a variety of the franchise’s games on different platforms.
