The Los Angeles Rams will face off against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 3rd at Sofi Stadium, but they won’t be taking the field alone. The LA based National Football League team has teamed up with the hit anime series One Piece to bring a unique game day experience to fans in the stadium and for those watching at home.

The collaboration will feature the inclusion of characters from the legendary show making appearances on monitors and digital signage around the stadium. Characters will also be featured on the team’s website, and an original One Piece video will be played during the game on the massive 70,000 square foot, 360 degree Infinity Screen that hangs above the field. For fans attending the game in Los Angeles, there will be special, limited edition One Piece clear bags given to the first 10,000 attendees. An LA Rams x One Piece sports towel will be handed out to all attendees as well while supplies last.
One Piece is certainly one of the biggest names in anime today, with a massive international following for both the anime and the manga, and it has recently been making its way into American popular culture. The recent Netflix live action adaptation of the show was an overall success, becoming one of the first anime to bridge that gap so successfully for western audiences. The anime, which began back in 1999, is also set to be featured at another quintessentially American event just this week. One of the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons will be the show’s protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, putting the anime front and center on one of America’s biggest national holidays during one of its most watched events. The December 3rd Rams game is the first time an American football team has collaborated with an anime series, and is yet another example of how One Piece, and anime in general, is moving into the mainstream of American culture more and more.
