Anime Clash Episode 1: Who is the worst anime parent?

Anime Clash Episode 1 is here! Anime Clash is a new show from the folks at Anime Fire where anime fans debate hot topics and defend their choices to the very end.

Anime Clash Episode 1

Join Anime Clash cast members Tyler McPhail, Joseph Ryan Hanson, Jimmy Arias, Sharra Lou, and Matthew Johnson along with guest Hugo Minott in this first episode as they ask a very important question:

Who happens to be the worst anime parent?

While, unfortunately, there seems to be no shortage of bad parents in anime, this is the time for fans to debate who is truly the worst.

In this episode, the cast has chosen to debate between Shou Tucker (Fullmetal Alchemist), Ash Ketchum’s mom (Pokémon), Gambino (Berserk), and Uncle Ruckus (The Boondocks). They spare no expense digging into the details of why these four characters are terrible parents.

Shou Tucker is from the series Fullmetal Alchemist by mangaka Hiromu Arakawa. Tucker is the father of a young child named Nina. He was a bio-alchemist that the main characters, Ed and Al Elric, seek out to help them with their mission to getting Al’s body back. Little did they know that Tucker held many horrible secrets.

Ash Ketchum’s mom, commonly known as Ms. Ketchum, is a recurring character in each of the Pokémon series. She sends Ash off on his quest to become a Pokémon trainer at the age of ten years old. Sending a child off on their own, away from home, does not seem like something a “good” parent would do.

Gambino is a mercenary leader in the series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. This parent taught his child, Guts, how to fight with a sword. However, he proved to be both a ruthless leader and a ruthless parent in the end.

While not technically an anime character, Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks is in the running for worst parent in animation. This is one uncle that children should not seek advice from or look up to as a role model.
