We spoke with voice actor Anne Yatco about JUJUTSU KAISEN and her career in voice acting. Anne is most well known for voicing Nobara Kugisaki in JUJUTSU KAISEN and Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact.
Actor Spotlight: Anne Yatco
Anne Yatco’s journey to voice acting was a long one. One of her dreams was to voice a Disney princess, much like the Little Mermaid. Anne said, “I really wanted to be Ariel, but you can’t actually be a mermaid. So, I settled for, ‘I’ll be the voice of a Disney princess.’ And I loved all of those Disney movies from, like, that golden age.”
Anne always loved performing, even when going to school to become a doctor. What began as a hobby she was passionate about became her full-time career.
JUJUTSU KAISEN
JUJUTSU KAISEN is a hit 2018 Shonen Jump series by Gege Akutami. The first season of the anime was released in 2020. The second season began airing on July 6th and is currently updating each Thursday on Crunchyroll. However, there is a small break between episodes 5 and 6, with the series picking back up on August 31st. JUJUTSU KAISEN follows a group of people who have a special, supernatural power known as “cursed energy.” These sorcerers protect the people of Japan from “cursed spirits” that are manifestations of human fear and negative emotions.
Anne Yatco is the voice of Nobara Kugisaki, one of the first year high school students under Gojo’s tutelage. Manga readers are aware of what is coming in the next arc, called the Shibuya arc, but anime only fans are also aware that the rest of Jujutsu Kaisen season two will be fast-paced and intense. We asked Anne how she feels about what’s coming and what that means for Nobara.
“I have so many conflicting feelings. I’m very excited about the Shibuya Arc because it is so jam-packed. There’s so much happening in there. And you’re going to get to see so many people, so many characters shine. It just breaks open what this show is about. I feel like it changes the game for better or for worse for certain characters.”
