With version 4.0 of the hit game Genshin Impact swiftly approaching on August 16, the newest nation is about to be introduced to players. Fontaine is the fifth nation travelers will enter, and it is vastly different than the previous nations players have seen. Here is what players can expect from the Genshin Impact Fontaine update.
The Genshin Impact Fontaine Update
Genshin Impact is an open-world game created by miHoYo, where players play as a traveler, traveling through seven nations in an attempt to reunite with their missing sibling. Genshin Impact has released a trailer introducing the fifth nation players must enter, Fontaine.
Similar to the other four nations Genshin Impact has introduced us to, Fontaine has its specialty element and archon. Fontaine is the hydro nation, where the God of Justice, Focalors, resides.Â
As the name suggests, Fontaine takes heavy inspiration from French culture, with the nation’s name directly translating to “fountain” in French. The architecture, outfits and character names are where we mostly see this French inspiration.Â
What to Expect
Fontaine has directly taken from the steampunk aesthetic as well with some of the characters introduced being engineers. Players can expect that many quests will require some sort of building and mechanics involved.
Not only that, but the traveler will also be on the front pages during their time there. Fontaine has the newspaper, “The Steambird,” that has apparently written numerous articles that have been published on the travelers’ quests in other nations.
New Playable Characters
Although the trailer shows us numerous playable characters, there are only three characters we know anything about. The first two are the twin magician duo, Lyney and Lynette. Players first saw them in the trailer “Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail” when the narrator introduced the nation of Fontaine. It is rumored that Lyney will be a five star-character, while Lynette will be a four-star.Â
The other known playable character we’ve met is the journalist for “The Steambird,” Charlotte. Charlotte was introduced to players in the 3.7 event “Duel! The Summoners’ Summit,” where she followed the traveler through the nations while reporting on a news story.
The Villain in Genshin Impact Fontaine
With a new nation comes a new member of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers attempting to steal the gnosis from the Gods. Fontaine’s villain the traveler must attempt to stop is none other than “The Knave” Arlecchino, who we do not know much about as of right now.
Although we don’t know exactly what the traveler will have to fix in this nation, we can conclude we’ll be involved in a trial or a court case very soon. As all players wait to visit the next nation, only time will tell what we’ll exactly experience in Fontaine.
